About
Meet the Team
We are a large team of administrative and management staff, physiotherapists, and physiotherapy assistants. Every member of the team plays an important role in providing high-quality care. The different roles are outlined below.
Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Assistants
Our physiotherapy team helps people improve, restore, and maintain their movement, physical function, and overall wellbeing. Through assessment, movement, exercise, and education, they support people to manage pain, recover from injury, and reduce the risk of future problems where possible.
The service can also offer referrals to local health and exercise programmes, physiotherapy-led exercise classes, and, where appropriate, corticosteroid injections.
Advanced Clinical Specialists (ACS)
Our Advanced Clinical Specialists are experienced physiotherapists who provide specialist assessment, treatment, and expert advice for people with more complex musculoskeletal conditions.
They also contribute to service development, staff education, and mentoring, helping to continually improve our physiotherapy service.
First Contact Physiotherapists (FCP)
Our First Contact Physiotherapists work within GP surgeries, providing early access to specialist musculoskeletal assessment and advice.
Their role focuses on assessment, diagnosis, and triage. Where appropriate, they can request investigations such as blood tests, X-rays, or MRI scans to help guide diagnosis and management.
Advanced Practice Physiotherapists (APP)
Formerly known as Extended Scope Practitioners (ESPs), our Advanced Practice Physiotherapists are highly experienced clinicians with access to diagnostic investigations, including ultrasound, X-ray, and MRI.
They work closely with orthopaedic teams to help coordinate musculoskeletal care across the region. The APP team also contributes to service development, staff education, and mentoring.
Administrative and Management Team
Our administrative and management team plays a central role in delivering our physiotherapy service.
As the first point of contact for many patients, they help with appointments, referrals, and general enquiries, supporting timely access to care. They also work closely with the clinical team to coordinate services, support service improvements, and help the department run smoothly.
Medical Secretaries
Our medical secretaries play an important role in supporting both patients and clinicians.
They process referrals, prepare and type clinical letters, and carry out a range of administrative tasks that support patient care. Working closely with the clinical team, they help ensure information is communicated accurately and efficiently, contributing to the smooth running of the service.
